This document has been created by Capital Hockey in conjunction with Sport NZ and endorsed by Hockey NZ.
Long Term Athlete Development Model
A framework for an optimal training, competition and recovery schedule for each stage of athletic development. It is designed on empirical / practical coaching experiences and scientific principles. Coaches who engage in the model and its practices are more likely to produce athletes who reach their full athletic potential and create a life long love for the game.

Sport NZ - Balance is Better
Sport NZ has launched a youth sport development portal for audiences to communicate the message that ‘balance is better’ via educational content and video. We will be sharing this content with our community on a regular basis. The Balance is Better document can be found here.
