Dear Hockey Community,
You may have seen WHA Facebook post earlier this week on the passing of Jack Tynan, a Wellington and Blackstick legend, in Christchurch on Sunday.
Jack was a Karori Hockey great, captained the first ever Men’s Olympic team that competed at the 1956 Olympic games in Melbourne, and in 2007 was inducted as a Wellington Sporting Legend, an honour he richly deserved.
In remembrance and to pay tribute to the sporting legend, WHA would like senior teams to call a one-minute silence before their respective games this weekend. Could you please forward this email to all team players, managers and coaches for their information.
It's exciting times for us as we head into Secondary winter tournament week next week at NHS as Wellington Hockey hosts the Lower North Island Championship Tournament.
In normal circumstances we would welcome our community to come watch some great hockey, however this tournament will allow for no spectators. We will do our best to update our Instagram and Facebook page with some photos and some of the action around the turf, so keep your eyes peeled!
A huge thank you to everyone who filled out our summer hockey survey, we are excited that we have started planning our summer competitions, with registrations coming out later in September!
We have a link below with info around our latest updates on COVID. But please visit our website if you have any concerns about games this weekend. There is a section on Contact Tracing and FAQs there.
We will also update our Facebook page with any changes etc, so keep an eye on there.
We love seeing your team photos out there on the turfs, so if you have any, please send them to cat@wellingtonhockey to get featured in our newsletter/website.
Thank you for your continued support of Wellington Hockey, please be safe out there!

Contact Tracing //
In order for hockey to keep happening in Level 2, we really need our community to get behind us and take a few minutes to update your contact tracing forms. We have been chasing a few clubs and schools around getting these done because we need them to keep each other and ourselves safe moving forward. Please make this a priority to get done.
Any questions, please email Sandeep at email@example.com
