Training Squads
The Wellington Hockey Academy’s Youth High Performance Programme is a selective initiative designed for the region’s most promising U16 and U19 players, offering an elite environment to develop the skills and mindset required for success at the highest levels of the sport.
The programme focuses on fostering advanced tactical understanding, technical mastery, and mental resilience, preparing athletes to excel in both regional and national competitions. Participants will train alongside like-minded players in a supportive but challenging environment led by expert coaches.
Programme Information
This programme is for driven and dedicated U16 and U19 athletes who aspire to excel at the representative, national, and international levels. Players will be selected based on performance, potential, and commitment to personal and team development.
Tactical Mastery:
Participate in intensive small-sided games and scenario-based sessions (such as 2v1, 3v2, and 5v4 drills) to sharpen your decision-making and enhance your game understanding in high-pressure situations.
Technical Excellence:
Improve your technical skills with focused morning training sessions aimed at perfecting your technique and execution.
Due to the selective nature of this programme, spaces are extremely limited at our discretion to no more than 16 in a group.
Nominations Close: September 22nd, 2025
Acceptance Notification: September 29th, 2025 (Players will be informed of selection)
Programme Start: October 7th, 2025
Training Days: Tuesday afternoons at 5:00pm-6:30pm and Thursday mornings at 6:00am-7:30am per week
Programme End: November 27th, 2025
