The U11 HUB Programme has been refreshed and is ready to kick off in 2021. The U11 HUB Programme is now part of the In Season Development Programme that provides young players further development opportunities during the hockey season.
The purpose of the the programme is to enable Wellington Hockey an opportunity to offer a significant number of young players, the opportunity to further develop their basic hockey skills over a focused period and then put these skills into practice in a festival day in Kapiti and a two day festival in the Hutt, while also taking these skills back into their School or Club team for Term 3.
The In Season Development Programme is hugely important for Wellington Hockey, as it focuses on introducing fundamental hockey skills required to play the game of hockey, aligned with the Development curriculum of Wellington Hockey, which focusses on the holistic development framework of the Person, the Athlete and the Player.
Each age bracket of the In Season Development Programme scaffold learnings to assist players in their development journey, but still allow entry points into the programme for new to sport players.
The U11 HUB will run on Sunday mornings (13th, 20th, 27th June & 4th July) at Fraser Park, Elsdon, NHS and Kapiti.
Each HUB will have a lead coach as well as WHA trainers.
Importantly, the U11 HUB is also a great development opportunity for coaches and future umpires. It is a chance for coaches in our community to extend their coaching skills with this age group and will have access to ongoing support, in an inclusive and supportive environment.
The Kapiti Festival will be held on Saturday 10th July (first Saturday of term 2 school holidays) and the Hutt Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday 24th & 25th July (last weekend of term 2 holidays).
Entry into the programme is by self nomination with registrations opening on Monday 10th May 2021. Registrations will close on Thursday 4th June with communication being sent to participants on Friday 5th June.
The programme cost will be $110
