Competition Information

WHA's summer competition offers a variety of formats catering to different groups and skill levels. Family Fives is a fun, family-oriented grade for teams with kids Year 10 and below, allowing multiple families or groups to combine, with at least two kids on the field at all times. Fast Fives is a competitive grade for both adults and secondary school players, perfect for those looking to stay sharp and play with friends. Fun Fives is a social grade for adults and secondary school players, ideal for beginners or groups seeking a relaxed introduction to hockey.

 

The competition runs for 6 weeks before Christmas and another 6 weeks after Christmas, with each period functioning as a separate competition.

Registrations close on the 10th October for Pre-Xmas Summer Hockey.

2024/2025 Pre-Xmas Summer Hockey Dates:

Tuesdays: 15th October - 26th November

Wednesdays: 16th October - 27th November

2025 Post-Xmas Summer Hockey Dates:

Tuesdays: 4th February - 11th March

Summer Hockey Fives

WHA's new summer competition offers fun and flexible hockey options for everyone, including Family Fives for families with young kids, Fast Fives for competitive players, and Fun Fives for social teams or beginners.

Summer Hockey Competition Catalogue

The grades below will be played across Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons/evenings and will go ahead subject to entry numbers. You can select your playing day and location when registering.

Note* we offer competitions at NHS, Fraser Park and Elsdon Park Pre-Xmas. If your grade at your location does not get enough entries you will get the option of moving venues/grades or receive a full refund.

    • Competitive Grade

    • For ‘Hockey’ players – keep your skills sharp and enjoy playing with other mates.

    • Highly recommended that the majority of participants from your team in the grade should be over 18 years old to have a good game day experience.

    • Experienced secondary school players may participate within and/or create a team.

    • Cost - $250 for Pre-Christmas - $400 for Pre and Post Christmas.

    • Earliest start times approx. 6:15pm and finishing approx. 8:00pm.

    • Social Grade.

    • No experience needed – come try it out!

    • Perfect for a work team, group of mates or those wanting to try hockey.

    • Participants in this grade can be secondary school students and/or adults that are new to the game or wanting to play socially.

    • Cost - $250 for Pre-Christmas - $400 for Pre and Post Christmas.

    • Earliest start times approx. 6:15pm and finishing approx. 8:00pm.

    • Family Grade..

    • Cost - $250 Pre Christmas - $400 Pre and Post Christmas.

    • Fun for the family.

    • Limited to kids Year 10 and below.

    • Multiple families or groups can be in one team, or you can add a few extras to one family.

    • Don’t have to all be from one family.

    • Minimum 2 kids on the field at all times.

    • Earliest start times approx. 6:15pm and finishing approx. 8:00pm.
