PlayHQ Resources

The home for all your game, player and club/school data during your hockey season.

Competition & Player Management

PlayHQ is a new nationwide membership and competition management platform provided by PlayHQ through Hockey NZ. PlayHQ is a sports administration technology platform designed to simplify the experience for Sporting Codes, Associations, Clubs, Volunteers and Participants. Members will be responsible for their own personal data and will have access to their records to enable them to track their history and progress.

The PlayHQ platform has been developed and configured for hockey with both Hockey New Zealand and Association representatives to ensure it met the needs of our hockey community. It handles competition management, registration, club administration, payments, game day management, live scoring and more.

PlayHQ Assistance
  • Wellington Hockey requires all players, umpires, coaches and managers to create a membership account and then register this account to your club/school for each season.

Once you have created your PlayHQ membership account please search for your Club and/or School on the PlayHQ home page and register yourself (or your child) with your Club and/or School. If you are wanting to register your child, please use your details as the Caregiver to create an account and then subsequently add your child to your account.

If you hold multiple roles within your club such as a player and a coach, you will need to register both of these with your club.

If you need any further assistance with this process, please email competitions@wellingtonhockey.org.nz

  • Player transfers are required when players change clubs. This process can be done via PlayHQ and can be initiated by:

    • A player, during registration to their intended new club or

    • A club administrator, from the Administration Portal.

Transfers require the approval of the player’s current and new club, and their association before the player can complete their registration to their new club.

A transfer request is only required if all of the following conditions are met:

    • A player is registering to a club or a club administrator has initiated the player transfer;

    • The player’s last club registration within the competition being registered to was to a different club; and

    • The competition being registered to has transfers enabled

    Transfer requests are never required:

    • for coach or team manager registrations,

    • for independent (non-club) registrations,

    • for the first registration within a competition, and for subsequent registrations to the same club within a competition,

    • for registrations to the same club, to a different competition
